This is my favorite place to start my day. I get up, grab my breakfast and go out to the dock. The morning sun makes the water sparkle and for the most part, the birds provide the only noise to be heard. I just love it!
The house is on a point with over 200' of water frontage. The yard has a park-like setting landscaped with a variety of flowers and great shade trees. The crape myrtles are beautiful especially in the middle of summer!
The master bedroom was turned into the kid's bedroom so that Mom and Dad can have the best view! The kid's room has a bunk bed and a double bed (not pictured) along with its own private half bath. Mom and Dad's bedroom has a "bed and breakfast feel" with a queen size bed. You don't even need to get out of bed to see the water or the Osprey's feeding their young….it's awesome!
The cottage is fully furnished and includes two bedrooms, 1 ½ bathrooms, living room, sun room, kitchen with an eat-in dining area. The kitchen has dishes, utensils, refrigerator, microwave, toaster oven, mixer and coffee maker. Also included is a TV, DVD/VCR, washer and dryer, heat and air conditioning, pillows and blankets.
This picture is from the sunroom window, which has the best view. You can sit on the futon and watch the fishing boats head out to the Bay.
As you can see, the dock is in great shape and has electricity and running water. Boaters: The average low water depth during low tide (MLW) is approximately 3 foot at the end of the dock. Within a few minutes by boat, you can be at a public boat ramp and can get gas at a local marina.
As the pictures indicate, this is very protected water with little current. The opening in the center of the picture above provides passage to the Bay. Boaters often use this inlet for protection during storms, but most of the time, this inlet has little boat traffic, which makes it great for relaxing on your boat and for kayaking.
Make sure you bring your binoculars and telescope. As I have said, the birding is spectacular but the stargazing can be just as amazing. At the end of the dock, you will have little competing light and tree interference. The sky really opens up to see just about anything that you want to see.
In the springtime, the birds come back to the area for nesting. As you can see, the geese get here before the Osprey do. However, in the end, webbed feet are no match for talons. The transition is quite a show to see.
Don't forget your crab lines! You can catch crabs right off the dock. You are welcome to use our traps but we had the most fun with crab lines and a net. It's even better if you have a boat…a lot of crabs to be had!
